Paediatric gastroenterology care covers the digestive concerns seen most often in children: recurrent tummy pain, problems with weight gain, constipation, diarrhoea, reflux in infants and older children, and food-related symptoms.
Children are not small adults. We use paediatric protocols, age-appropriate scopes when endoscopy is needed, and explain everything to both the child and the family.
A consultation with the child and the parents takes a careful history, including diet and growth.
Targeted blood tests, stool studies and imaging are ordered when needed.
When endoscopy is required, it is performed under specialist paediatric anaesthesia and parents can be with the child in recovery.
All endoscopic procedures carry a small risk of bleeding, perforation, or reaction to sedation. These risks are uncommon when the procedure is done by a trained endoscopist in a hospital setting.

No. Endoscopy in children is done under appropriate sedation or anaesthesia.
